Where Did Meditation Originate?

Several people have asked me, "Where did meditation originate?"

The truth is, I have no idea, and neither does anyone else. However, when you ask the question, "Where did meditation originate?". What do you mean? What do you want to know?

You see, meditation isn't an activity, say like eating, hunting, or even thinking.

Meditation is the process of bringing stillness into the physical, mental and emotional bodies. In the process of becoming still, you will notice profound aspects of yourself that you were never aware of before. You will notice that you have other 'bodies', other than the physical, mental and emotional.

The stiller you become, the more your awareness of these other bodies expands. So becoming still, and contemplating ones own nature, is not an activity that originated anywhere.

I have no idea where, or when, humans first appeared on this planet. Whenever it was, those first humans had the ability that you have now, that is to question the nature of their own existence.

In stillness, you will notice that you are more than your body. You will notice that you are more than your emotions. You will notice that you are not your thoughts. So what are you?
