Researching on Wikipedia, it says this of Zen Meditation:
Zazen is at the heart of Zen Buddhist practice.
The aim of zazen is just sitting, "opening the hand of thought".This is done either through koans, Rinzai's primary method, or whole-hearted sitting, the Soto sect's method. (Rinzai and Soto are the main extant Zen schools in Japan; they both originated in China as the Linji and Caodong schools, respectively.)
Once the mind is able to be unhindered by its many layers, one will then be able to realize one's true Buddha nature. In Zen Buddhism, zazen (literally "seated meditation") is a meditative discipline practitioners perform to calm the body and the mind and experience insight into the nature of existence and thereby gain enlightenment (satori).
So it seems that Zen Meditation is excellent for calming the mind, and I am sure that it is.
However, just because something is quieter than normal, does not mean that you are free from it. And whilst am positive that practicing zen meditation is beneficial for you, physically, mentally and emotionally, and I am sure, that in your quieter moments, you will gain insights into the nature of your mind, I do not know of, and have never met a zen meditation practitioner who has gained Enlightenment, or Sartori.
Even if you knew someone who was Enlightened, by Zen Meditation techniques or whatever,
you would be in your rights to say, 'So what?'
Because unless they can show you how to discover Enlightenment, for yourself, then their Enlightenment may as well not be true.

I did here a good Zen joke recently.
What toppings does the Zen Master put on his pizza?
He has one with everything!
Now, I shall go and listen to the silence of my own laughter.
