Guided Meditation

Guided Meditations can be great fun and they are a brilliant way to relax at the end of the day. I have included a guided meditation in my free Meditation Class Video which you can get from this site.

Just in case you don't know what a guided meditation is, let me tell you.

A guided meditation is usually when you sit back in your chair, or relax on your meditation cushion, and play a cd recording of a relaxing voice taking you on a imaginary journey. Hence, they are 'guiding' you.

The guided meditation narrator, usually invites you to picture yourself in one of your favourite places out in nature. It could be by a trickling stream, it could be in the open fields with the birds singing in the sky, or it could be down on a deserted beach, listening to the crashing waves and the rolling pebbles....

The meditation teacher will progressivly guide you into a relaxed state of being. The benefits of a guided meditation are
1) you will usually enjoy the meditation very much
2) you will come out of the meditation feeling relaxed and refreshed
3) you will probably feel physically, mentally and emotionally better.
So from that point of view, guided meditations are definitly worth doing.

However, if you are interested in finding and discovering deeper aspects of your being, if you are interested in finding the answers to the deepest questions in life, if you want to discover for yourself - the true nature of who and what you really are - then guided meditations will not help you. As I said above, you will enjoy the guided meditation, but it will reveal nothing to you.

I would recommend guided meditations as an occasional treat, or break, from the more serious or urgent business of discovering your real nature.
