The very term Christian Meditation, is in itself, a contradiction. Let me explain.
Meditation is about letting go of all concepts, ideas, opinions, dogma, stories and wishful thinking, in order to discover what really lies within you. After all, if the kingdom of heaven really is within you, then where is it? It is certainly not hiding in any ideas or dogma, Christian or otherwise.
So if you are to meditate effectively, you must let go of any Christian ideas that you have, at least for the duration of your meditation.
You can believe in what you want, that is your right. Most peoples prefer to think they chose their beliefs, but usually their beliefs are dictated to them by their environment. For instance, you are not going to find may Jews in Arabia, and you wont find many Christians in Pakistan.
People identify themselves with these beliefs, they literally 'become' their beliefs, they think they are their beliefs, and they experience fear when anyone or anything casts doubt on the validity of their beliefs. This fear of losing ones beliefs or identity, often manifests as aggression and violence. This fear can be seen demonstrated by many religious fundamentalists across the world.
Christians are in the same boat as the Buddhists, the Mulims, the Hindus, the Sikhs, the Jews, and any other religion you can think of. A belief, no matter how special it makes you feel, no matter how chosen you think you are, no matter how many years you have invested in your beliefs, they are just stories that were handed down to you. And in your quieter moments, you probably suspect that too.
What I would recommend is this. If you are a Christian, no problem. Simply sit down and learn to meditate correctly. When you have finished your meditation, then get up and become a Christian again.
Just see what happens.
