Chakra Meditation

What are chakras and what is chakra meditation?

I am not asking you to believe any of this stuff, but for the sake of a very simplistic explanation, just go along with me, for now.

It is said that a human being consists of seven bodies. What these bodies are called, varies from place to place, but in general these bodies are known as the physical, mental, emotional, etheric, higher mental, buddhic and atmic bodies. It is said that you have got seven main chakras, one where each body connects to the preceding body, and they are located as shown in the diagram below.

So what do these bodies have to do with chakra meditation?

Think of it like this. Your physical body is your smallest body. The next biggest body is your emotional body. Then your mental body. Each body gets bigger and bigger until you have your Atmic body. This is the biggest body of all.

The connecting doorways between each of these bodies are the chakras. These chakras are like transformers on an electricity grid. They slow the energy down so that it can be used by the next body. These chakras look like and behave like whirlpools or vortices. The chakras serve to slow the energy down, so that it does not damage or burn the lower body.

Most people who meditate on chakras, never see any chakras. They visualise and do various other meditation techniques in an attempt to manipulate the energy from one centre, or chakra, to another.

Many religious icons indicate the presence of the highest chakras on the forehead and on the crown of the head. For example, statues of the meditating Buddha, show a small open chakra on his forehead, and a thousand petalled lotus is depicted on his crown, indicating the presence of this highest chakra. Buddhists often meditate on chakras, yet I have never met a Buddhist meditator who has had their brow chakra opened, nor have I met one who can see and meditates on the crown chakra.

Yet it is possible to open the brow chakra and literally go into the light of the thousand petalled lotus chakra. You just need to know how. That is what this web site is for. More details at the top of trhis page.
