A meditation script is used by meditators when they want to relax via a guided meditation. This usually involves someone reading out the script as the meditator relaxes, or more commonly, the meditation script is played via a tape, cd, dvd or video player.
A well crafted meditation script will gently encourage you to let go, physically, mentally and emotionally. The meditation script is usually read out by a soft sounding, gentle voice. This voice encourages you to relax, close your eyes, then go on an internal imaginary journey.
This journey is usually to somewhere peaceful and quiet, maybe the countryside, a stream or a secluded beach. The meditation script will constantly encourage you to feel more and more relaxed, and as you do so, you can experience very deep states of relaxation.
Whilst these meditation scripts are extremely usefull at helping you to relax, they often allow you to drift off to sleep. Whilst this may be great if you are looking for an aid to sleep, it is not good if you are looking for a meditation technique that will give you access to deeper aspects of your being.
This is why I do not include a meditation script, or a guided meditation, in my free Meditation Class video. The meditation script type of guided meditation, can be done a lot better by people other than me.
I am offering you meditation techniques which give you the opportunity to explore yourself, to go an an inner journey and discover for yourself, the very nature of your being.
To make these discoveries, you have to be awake, you have to be alert, you have to be present in the moment. It will not help you if you are drifting off down some country stream, or listening to the sound of crashing waves, or slumbering in a beautiful imagined meadow, listening to imaginary birdsong.
Listening to a meditation script can be great fun, but do not confuse it with the great aid to self discovery that meditation really is.
