There are all kinds of meditations for beginners. Most of the techniques are quite simple, will do you no harm and I would recommend them to any beginner who is starting to meditate.
You can watch me demonstrate meditation for beginners on my free meditation video, that you can watch by clicking the link on this page. I will show you the basics that any beginner to meditation should be aware of.
First of all, if you are a beginner to meditation, you need to have some idea of what you are looking for and why you want to meditate. For instance, if you just want to calm your nerves, then the meditation techniques shown on my free video will definitely help you.
If you want to calm your nerves, and get out the house one night as week, then maybe your local Buddhist group is for you. (As long as you don't mind listening to a bit of Buddhist 'philosophy' afterwards).
However, if you are looking for real, concrete, meditative experiences and realizations, then you have a problem. Most meditation classes leave the meditator with more questions than answers. The meditation techniques that are generally taught, do not give you consistent insights into the nature of yourself and what you are.
The meditator will quite naturally want to know more and more about their inner self. Yet, their quest for real knowledge, will be held back by the inability of these techniques to reveal much at all. So you will be left frustrated, with the only options of 'leaving' or 'believing'.
Whether it is Meditation for Beginners - or Meditation For Dissatisfied Experienced Meditators, my advice would be the same. Explore the Advanced Meditation techniques that can be found througfh the link at the top of this page.
