Learn To Meditate

If you want to learn to meditate, you should first give yourself a big hug and congratulate yourself! Whatever your reason for wanting to learn to meditate, I know that it is the most wonderful gift you could ever give to yourself, so well done!

So, if you want to learn to meditate, I would advise that you do the following first. Ask yourself...
What do I want from meditation?
What physical, mental or emotional benefits do I want?
Do I want to be more relaxed?
Do I want to feel less anxious?
Do I want some kind of experience?
Am I looking for anything deeper?
If so, what?
Am I happy to look inside myself?
If not, why not?
Will I be OK?

You see, if you really want to learn to meditate, you are potentialy embarking on the biggest journey of your life.

When learning to meditate, you have to decide which direction you go in. If you make the 'wrong' decision now, you will be going in the 'wrong' direction.

You have to decide what you want, and which type of meditation offers you the best chance of you getting what you are looking for.

Which meditation offers you a religious belief, but no proof?
Or, which meditation offers you personal experiential proof?
Which meditation offers you a few techniques and ideas, then leave you to it?
Or which meditation offers ongoing support from fellow meditators on the same inner journey?
And also from meditators who have finished the journey.

If you were going to climb Mount Everest you would get a guide, and there would only be one type of guide that you would get. You would get a Sherpa. Why? Because a Sherpa has been up the mountain, has lived up the mountain, and more importantly, they can guide you quickly and safely up the mountain. Without a good gude, without the Sherpa, you will not make it.

It is the same when you learn to meditate. Choose your guide wisely. Go slowly until you can trust your guide. Follow their advice 100% . If you do not make the discoveries that they claim, then move on and find a meditation that will give you everything you are looking for.
