How To Meditate For Beginners

If you are a beginner to meditation, I have some very good news for you, you have got a head start on a lot of 'experienced' meditators. You see, meditation is not something that is 'learned' in the normal sense of the word.

If you are a beginner to meditation, it is important for you to understand that you are not going to 'acquire' information or 'understand' new meditation information. In fact, if anything, even if you are a beginner to meditation, the more you meditate, the more you will let go of your ideas, concepts, beliefs, opinions and whatever else it is that you are hanging on to.

Almost everyone who meditates, meditate using techniques that do not reveal much to the meditator. However, they will still have experiences of an expanding awareness, but only so far. They then quite naturally begin to 'fill in the gaps', to try and make sense of a picture that is incomplete.

Conventional religions offer little to the meditator, other than beliefs. So the meditator, sifts through the beliefs that are out here, selecting the one that best fits in with their In the current outlook. They then take on these beliefs and it becomes a part of 'them', it becomes a part of their 'self'.

Hanging on to anything impedes your meditation. So these ideas, these beliefs, serve only to hinder meditation. Any ideas are nothing to do with meditation.

So beginners to meditation could have an advantage to experienced meditators, because they may not have preconceived ideas of meditation to let go of.

If you are a beginner to meditation, you need worry about nothing. You are going on a journey into regions of yourself, that up till now, you have no idea where they are, or even if they exist at all. What could be more natural than that? To explore yourself! To explore regions away from the chatter of the mind, you expand out beyond the confines of emotion... and simply discover what is already there.
